THIS is Legit Motherhood

Oct 30, 2019

In this episode of THIS is Legit Motherhood...I got to talk with my friend Jane about her experience of going to a psych ward after both deliveries of her babies. She talks about the traumatic experience, but also how it helped her cope and move forward with dealing with her postpartum depression and anxiety.

Jane talks about how some people who haven't experienced issues with mental illness don't realize that depression can happen to anyone, even if you have a seemingly perfect life and family support. She also discusses things she wish she would see change in regards to helping moms post delivery such as longer hospital stays for moms and earlier check ups for the most post birth.

She gets real about the symptoms and signs if you may be struggling with either of these mental illnesses and how you find your support and help. This episode really opens up to what some women go through and how we can better support and help moms after they have their babies.

If you are listening to this episode and feel you may be struggling with any of these things, please reach out to a loved one or your doctor.

Jane is a 30-year-old mom of three kids three and under living in Richmond, VA. She and her husband Andrew have been married for 7 years and love the east coast. Jane is a firm believer of personality tests (ENFJ, enneagram 2, blue, questioner, slytherin) (if you know you know), drinking a cup of tea daily, and the power of a good cry.
